May 10 2008 Stuttgart, AR Tornadic Supercell

What an INSANE day! We left KC at 7am for a target of Little Rock, AR. The drive down was boring as usual. We decided to move just south of Little Rock to the town of Sheridan. There we ran into Scott Currens and the Tornadovideos.net team. We sat for hours cooking in 84/72 air and watching the hazy skies fill with cumulus. We decided to get some dinner at the Hardee's in town. After we ate Reed mentioned a river to our east that is nearly impossible to find a bridge across so we moved east over the river and got in position as the cluser of cells to our west morphed into a monster supercell. The storm went Tor-warned and it was pitch dark to our north from the core and lightning was intense. We waited east of the river north of England, AR. Soon the storm was coming close so we bolted east through town on US165. We looked back east only to see an amazing wall cloud. It was coming up fast so we needed to move. As we scooted east HUGE hail pounded us. Soon we found a south road option and the wall cloud got within a 100 yards as a funnel began to descend. It was an intense moment. It didn't make it too the ground and we lost it for a while due to road options. We got back on it just after the tornado moved through Stuttgart. We stopped to help out and we spent the next hour helping out around town and observing the damage. We missed the tornado by seconds!!

Anyway video tonight when we get back home. Also today we are planning our surveying the damage in SW Missouri from the KS/OK/MO monster tornado that affected Picher, OK and Racine, MO. Pics and video from that as well tonight.
